Saluting Vets
Skip Stansbury, Colorado District Rep of the War Eagles Society has passed an item of interest. Seems that until 25 July 2007, non-uniformed Veterans of the Armed Forces who honorable served this country were not permitted to salute the Flag of the United States. Thanks to Senator John Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) for passage of his Senate Bill S-1877 that will further clarify current Law (US Code Title 4, Chapter 1) that will now allow Veterans who previously served in our Nation's Military Forces, may now salute our Flag using the Hand Salute.
Quoting Senator Inhofe, "I believe that this is an appropiate way to honor and recognize the 25 million veterans in the United States who have served in the military and remain as role models to other citizens."
Well said Senator. Myself a Vet, my thanks and I salute your efforts.

Article Appeal
Most of you who receive my Newsletter & read this Page know that some time back, I had unintentionally created a “controversy.” I’m not trying to “dredge things up” all over again but rather to use this as a “lesson learned” that we all can benefit from. Many of you did write in voicing your opinions & concerns and I really, really did appreciate y’all doing so. Hence, I really want to encourage both readers of this newsletter & visitors of the Web Site to write on what ever your heart desires. It doesn’t have to be an “editorial.” You could write articles on History, adventures & mis-adventures at Camp, inspirational articles of improving a Persona, funny experiences, merchandise of the Era and so-forth. I will start off with –1- page and see where things go from there. Your articles will be published exactly as you have written them. Because of Web Site constraints, I can allow only –1- photograph or drawing if you wish to include it with your writing & keep the length of your article to no more than 2 standard type-written pages. The only requirement that I ask of y’all is to keep in mind that kids could be viewing your writings as well as mature adults. Depending on how many articles are received over time, I see no reason (for now) that they could be posted on the Site for at least a week or longer. Please consider sharing your knowledge & experiences. Send your articles (and picture for articles) to rmrondynews@juno.com and be sure to include: your name or

Vehicles in Camp
This past weekend, there was a veteran 'Skinner who, (I think) for selfish reasons, drove their vehicle into Camp on a day when, by tradition & Camp Rules, vehicles are NOT permitted in the Primitive area. As Segundo, I had to go tell this 'Skinner that what he did was wrong and had asked the 'Skinner, firmly but nicely, to remove the vehicle from the Primitive Area ASHP (as-soon-as-humanly-possible). The vehicle was removed about 20 minutes later.
Veteran 'Skinner's already KNOW that most, if not all Rendezvous prohibit vehicles within their Primitive Camp area after a certain (time &) day. If in doubt, contact the Booshway or Segundo AHEAD of time to make arrangements. The Camp Leadership in most cases will work with the individual 'Skinner and in some cases, even arrange for help to unload or load-out, including cartage if needed.
The "No Vehicles in Camp" policy is a very good one. 1) 'Skinners come to camp to get AWAY from the vehicle traffic. 2) Pedestrian safety. There may be many "flatlanders" along with their small children who may not know to "look out for cars." 3) Vehicles RUIN the ambience of the Rendezvous Camp atmosphere (except for the Hooter Truck!).
In short, if'n you don't want to incurr the WRATH of the Camp Leadership (Booshway, Segundo or a mean-ass Dog Soldier) . . .
DON'T DRIVE INTO PRIMITIVE CAMP! ! !

Untie Troop’s Hands
Excerpted from an article published in 7 August 2007 issue of the Rocky Mountain News – page “News 31”
Written by Elan Journo (a junior fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute)
Americans rightly admire our troops for their bravery, dedication and integrity.
The Marines, for instance, are renown for abiding by an honorable code—as warriors and as individuals in civilian life.
But a recently disclosed Pentagon Study—has revealed that less than half of soldiers and Marines would report any violations of military ethics rules. The Study provides searing evidence of…Washington’s rules of engagement.
Consider: Imagine being thrust into a battlefield—but are purposely hamstrung by absurd restrictions while (the Enemy) throws Molotov Cocktails…drop large chunks of concrete from second story windows at your vehicle—but you are prohibited from responding with force.
Instead of subjecting troops to more intensive “ethics” training, we should unleash them from the suicidal military ethics of self-sacrifice.

Ronald Reagan Quotes
(I don't usually take what comes across the E-Mail Trail serious enough to simply read it once, then delete it. But the following quotes from former President Ronald Reagan seem to make more sense now as the attitudes of our country change from bad to "even worse." "ST" )
With Reagan's diaries being published, these bear re-reading:
You don't realize how much you miss him, until you read and remember
some of the stuff he said and stood for:
"Here's my strategy on the Cold War: We win, they lose." Ronald Reagan
"The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Ronald Reagan
"Of the four wars in my lifetime none came about because the U.S. was too strong." Ronald Reagan
"I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandment's would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress." Ronald Reagan
"The taxpayer: That's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination." - Ronald Reagan
"Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other." - Ronald Reagan
"The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a government program." Ronald Reagan
"I've laid down the law, though, to everyone from now on about anything that happens: no matter what time it is, wake me, even if it's in the middle of a Cabinet meeting." - Ronald Reagan
"It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have
learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first." - Ronald Reagan
"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." - Ronald Reagan
"Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book." - Ronald Reagan
"No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. - Ronald Reagan
"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under." - Ronald Reagan
